The Early Room

The things in this room all represent Danish home life before the industrial revolution. Everything here was made by hand. The clothes were made from cloth hand spun on a wheel like the one pictured, and all the woodwork was done by hand without using any nails.
Space was tight in a typical home, so everything they made was space-efficient. Many things served dual purposes. At night, this bench was converted to a bed for the children. The curtains were pulled across the room to separate one area from another to create the impression that there was more than just the single room.
