The Solvang History Room

In this room you can learn more about Solvang's early history. This sewing machine is an example of one of the many fine antiques that have been donated to the museum.
The Atterdag School was the first school built in Solvang, founded by the original settlers of Solvang and patterned after the classic Danish folk school. Unlike modern schools, it was not merely a place where children were taught, but rather a cultural center for the whole community; for example, lectures and town meetings were held here. The student population was also different, including adults as well as children.
